Sky+ HD with Sky Movies
If you want HD television with Sky Movies the most cost-effective way to get it is in a bundle like the Sky+HD with Sky Movies package. You can put together a Sky+HD package to your own taste with a choice of 2 Entertainment Packs (Entertainment and Entertainment Extra) and extra channels but here we assume you’re looking for the starter level HD bundle with the Sky Movies pack. The bundle gives you the benefits of Sky+ thanks to the Sky+HD Box, access to HD channels depending on the TV package you choose and Sky’s broadband and landline service too. The Sky+HD starter bundle with Sky Movies consists of the following -
- >> Sky+HD box to pause, rewind and record live TV
- >> The Sky Entertainment Pack
- >> The Sky HD Pack
- >> Sky Movies – 11 Sky Movies channels plus bonus channel Disney Cinemagic
- >> Sky Broadband Everyday Lite – 2GB monthly usage
- >> Sky Talk Freetime with unlimited evening and weekend calls to UK landlines
The Sky+HD with Sky Movies package costs £46.25 a month plus telephone line rental of £12.25. The Sky Movies element costs £16 a month (included in the £46.25 total here). If you prefer you can choose to take only Sky Movies 1 or Sky Movies 2 in which case the package would cost £38.25 a month (£8 a month for Sky Movies 1 or 2). You need an HD ready TV in order to watch HD content.
Details of the Sky+ HD with Sky Movies package
The Sky Movies pack consists of 11 different Sky Movies channels split as follows -
- >> Sky Movies Premiere and Sky Movies Showcase for the latest big movies around
- >> Channels for different genres - Comedy, Family, Action & Adventure, Modern Greats, Sci-Fi & Horror, Drama & Romance, Crime & Thriller and Classics
- >> Disney Cinemagic - a bonus channel that you won't get by taking Sky Movies 1 or 2 individually
There are over 450 movies available every week on Sky Movies, plus you get access to Sky Anytime+ where another 500 are in the archives of on-demand content. This is viewed via your broadband connection and counts towards your monthly usage, so if you find you use it a lot you should consider upgrading the broadband element of this package to Sky Broadband Unlimited.
The TV element of this package consists of the Sky+HD Box, the HD Pack and the Sky Entertainment Pack. First to the box, this enables you to pause and rewind live TV and to record and store content in the hard drive. The Entertainment Pack contains the channels from what used to be the Variety Pack and the Style & Culture Pack, which is 41 subscription channels showcasing the best of UK and US TV - more about Sky TV packages here. Similarly Sky Sports can be added to your package as premium channels at any time.
The HD Pack is the £10.25 a month add-on which enables you to watch any of the channels in your chosen package in HD if there is an HD version. So for example if the Sky Arts 1 channel is included in the pack you choose you will also be able to watch Sky Arts 1 HD. Sky has the best choice of HD channels by quite a long way - you need an HD ready TV to be able to watch HD TV.
Sky Broadband Everyday Lite has a monthly usage cap of 2GB, which is enough for checking your emails and browsing the web. The package also comes with 24/7 technical support, free Sky wireless router worth £50 and a 3 month free trial of McAfee Internet Security.
Sky Talk Freetime comes with included evening and weekend calls to UK landlines and must be taken with Sky line rental as detailed above.
