Sky Box Office
Sky Box Office is a pay per view or PPV service first launched in 1996 on Sky Analogue. The initial focus was very much on popular sporting events like boxing – the famous WBC World Heavyweight Championship where Frank Bruno fought Mike Tyson was first aired on Sky Box Office – but these days it’s mainly known as a movie channel.
Movies on Sky Box Office
If you don’t have Sky Movies but want to watch occasional new movies around the same time they come out on DVD then Sky Box Office is pretty good value. You just choose the movie you want to watch from the hundreds available and pay a one-off fee to rent it for a day.
How to use Sky Movies Box Office -
- Press the Box Office button on your Sky Remote
- Follow the on-screen menus to find your movie
- Enter your PIN and select your movie from just £3.99
You rent the movie for a day which runs from 6am to 6am. Obvious benefits to Pay per View like this are that the film will always be in stock and you’re not going to forget to return it, so no late fees. Customers with Sky+ or Sky+HD can also record the movie and keep it for seven days, giving much better value.
You can also watch Sky Box Office online via Sky Player. Regular Sky Movies Box Office films are priced at £3.50 and can be rented on a PC or Mac.
Sport on Sky Box Office
Sport isn’t such a big thing as it used to be on Sky Box Office now that there are Sky Sports packages with 4 full time channels for fans to choose from but you’ll still find some key sporting events on Pay per View.
Sport can be found in standard definition on channel 739 and in HD on channel 752. You can book online, for which you need to have your Sky ID handy, or on the phone by calling 08442 410888. Phone bookings on the day of the event cost more money so it pays to get it booked in advance.
