Sky Upgrades
If you’re already a Sky TV customer you may be able to get a lot more out of your subscription by adding extra services – you’ll get more value too as Sky upgrades normally come with generous special offers and discounts. Like with mobile phone contracts the easy option is just to stick with what you have, especially if you’ve been signed up for a long time, but with new benefits and features being added all the time you could be missing out.
It’s very easy to take up one of the upgrade offers too – all you do is log in to your Sky account (or create an account if you haven’t already) and add your chosen products to the basket. Upgrade to Sky+HD
High Definition TVs are now very affordable and there are over 50 HD channels available on Sky, so upgrading to Sky+HD is very popular. If you have the black Sky+ box already then all you need to do is add the HD Pack to your subscription for £10.25 a month extra, as the black box is Sky+ or Sky+HD depending on your subscription – it’s the same box. You will also want to connect the box to the TV using an HDMI cable, which may have come with the HD TV, instead of a Scart.
If you have an older Sky box you’ll need to upgrade the box itself and add the HD Pack.
Add Sky Sports
If you have a sports fan in the house you might think about adding Sky Sports to your TV subscription. Comprising Sky Sports 1, 2, 3 and 4 and Sky Sports News it’s the most comprehensive sports TV package in the UK – if you chose to add ESPN as well that would definitely be true. Although most of Sky Sports is available from other providers, Virgin Media being the closest, Sky is the only provider to offer all 5 sports channels in HD.
You can add the Sky Sports Pack for £20 a month.
Add Sky Movies
The Sky Movies Pack consists of 11 channels of film, largely split into genres, as follows.
Premiere – This is Sky Movies’ flagship channel, the channel with the exclusives and the first screenings where you’ll find the latest and biggest movies on TV.
Showcase – Formerly known as Sky Movies Screen 1, Showcase is where you can find collections, box sets and seasons.

Add Broadband & Talk
If you have Sky TV but have your broadband and phone with another provider there’s a good chance you’re paying more than you should – in general triple bundles with the same provider give better value. Sky Broadband and Sky Talk now come as one with Sky line rental and existing TV customers can upgrade by adding Broadband and Talk. The standard Broadband Everyday Lite is a 20Mb service that gives you 2GB of downloads a month and comes with a XX router. Sky Talk gives you included evening and weekend calls to UK landlines and the line rental is £12.25 a month.

Add Multiroom
If you want a Sky box in more than one room in the house you can upgrade to Multiroom for an extra £10.25 a month plus a standard set-up charge which depends on which box you already have and which box or boxes you wish to add.
Activate Sky Anytime+
All Sky TV customers who have a Sky Broadband connection now have access to Sky Anytime+, a huge library of on-demand TV and movies, which can be viewed through your Sky+ Box – you just need to set it up by connecting the box to the broadband router. You can watch content from Anytime+ in line with your Sky TV subscription, so if you have the Entertainment Pack (the channels that used to form the old Variety and Style & Culture packs) you can watch TV on-demand that originated on those channels and if you have Entertainment Extra you can watch content from any of those channels. the same applies to Sports and Movies.
So Sky Anytime+ is not in itself an upgrade but one thing to bear in mind is that everything you watch on Anytime+ counts against your monthly broadband allowance, so if you’re going to use it regularly you should consider upgrading to Broadband Unlimited.
