Two snippets of interesting news this week involving two long-running BBC comedy shows – Never Mind the Buzzcocks and Have I Got News For You. Firstly it’s been announced that Buzzcocks will be given a live slot on the comedy stage at the Latitude festival in Southwold in July. Latitude is unique among UK festivals, a great eclectic mix of music, film, comedy and more which attracts young hipsters and families with young kids in equal measure. The Never Mind the Buzzcocks gig will feature team captains Phill Jupitus and Noel Fielding – the Latitude festival takes place on July 14-17th.
Have I Got News For You in HD
Always a highlight of my viewing week (when it’s around), Have I Got News For You is back on the 8th April for a 41st series – long running and completely deservedly so (catch Have I Got a Bit More News For You with extra bits for maximum comedy value). For the first time HIGNFY will be broadcast on BBC HD as well as standard definition – in a way it’s not exactly the most obvious candidate for HD broadcast, in fact it would be almost as funny as a radio show, but it goes to show the increase of choice in HD, moving it further towards being the norm.
