Check out the new Virgin1 logo which has been created by marketing company Red Bee Media as part of a rebranding campaign by Virgin. They discovered through market research that the image people have of the Virgin brand is ‘warm, smart and sometimes goes too far’, so in response to this they’ve gone 3D with an 80s style logo and a new character called Red, a puppet who sits at home and watches Virgin TV all day. Red’s first job was to be interviewed by Richard Branson – interesting trivia, he was designed by Paul Jomain, the man behind the PG Tips monkey.
The other angle Virgin want to get across with the new logo is a more feminine touch – Virgin Media Marketing Director Jeff Dodds explained “Virgin1 had a slight masculine skew, with its slick, dark and impactful branding, but we want it to appeal to both sexes now.”
